The International Guitar Excellence Award for this new edition goes to the Manuel de Falla Archive Foundation.
Manuel de Falla composed only one work for the guitar: Homenaje a Debussy, dedicated to Miguel Llobet. However, his music contains the soul and expression of the guitar. Numerous pieces from his catalogue have been arranged for guitar and have become part of the regular repertoire of great guitarists.
The significance of his music, a true reflection of his attachment to his homeland, is fundamental to the musical development of our country. His personality, his legacy and his testimony form part of the finest historical and musical heritage of Spanish culture of all time.
The Royal Academy will host the Alhambra Guitarras Foundation Award ceremony, which will take place on Monday 9 March at 12 noon.
The ceremony will be presented by José Jorge Botella Trelis (President of the F.A.G. and President of Manufacturas Alhambra), José Luis Ruiz del Puerto (Artistic Director of the F.A.G.) and Elena García de Paredes de Falla, President of the Manuel de Falla Archive Foundation.
