Origin and history of the Foundation
The story of Fundación Alhambra Guitarras begins in 2022, but its roots go much further back, into the long history of Guitarras Alhambra.
The Foundation was established as a private, non-profit organisation with the aim of keeping alive the legacy of more than 60 years of support for the world of the guitar.
It all began with a company that not only builds guitars, but also encourages study, professional development, and excellence among guitarists around the world. With that background, we wanted to take one step further: to create an independent cultural entity that supports the art of the guitar from a broader, more inclusive perspective, with an international outlook.
Today, we are recognised as one of the most active and respected institutions in promoting and protecting Spain’s guitar heritage worldwide.
Our cultural and social mission
Fundación Alhambra Guitarras has a very clear purpose: to protect, promote, and showcase the Spanish guitar as a living heritage—full of art, education, and social meaning. We strive to combine art, inclusion, and excellence in everything we do.
- Disseminating and preserving the Spanish guitar as a living cultural heritage
- Supporting young artists and professionals through real opportunities
- Collaborating with institutions to generate educational, artistic, and social impact
- Building bridges between generations, countries, and communities through music
- Promoting the recognition of the Spanish Guitar and its culture as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Our work focuses on three main areas
Music and Culture
We create and support high-level artistic projects. We promote international competitions, original guitar composition, sponsor festivals and international Spanish guitar competitions, and support young performers in their professional careers.
Education
We promote the study of the guitar from early childhood through to professional training through scholarship programmes, partnerships, and special educational initiatives.
Social action
Music can be a driver of social change. We believe in the guitar as an instrument for personal transformation and for physical and mental recovery. We promote inclusion programmes, physical and mental rehabilitation, and social reintegration.
Our team
The Foundation is made up of a team of professionals from the worlds of music, cultural management, and education.
Board of Trustees
Our Board of Trustees, the body responsible for guiding the Foundation, is made up of recognised figures from the artistic, academic, and legal fields:
