10th Alhambra Junior International Guitar Competition

Alhambra guitars Foundation and the Cultural Association Trujaman founded this competition with the aim of encouraging young generations of guitarists in the study of the Spanish guitar, hoping that it will serve as an impulse and encouragement to further deepen in their artistic trajectories.

We are proud to present the 10^th edition of the CIGA Junior competition, which has already established itself as one of the most important international guitar competitions for young people and it will take place from 10^th to 12^th November in Valencia.

The eliminatory round will take place online and the deadline for registration is 14^th October 2022.

Rules

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

1. Open competition for all guitarist of any nationality, excluding previous 1st winners of the same category in previous editions.

2. Four categories are set:

A Category: up to 10 years old
B Category: up to 13 years old
C Category: up to 17 years old
D Category: up to 24 years old

and two rounds: Eliminatory (online) and Final.

Contestants in each category cannot exceed the age limit on 14th October 2023.

3. The pieces must be played by memory, except in the Categories A and B which is optional. The pieces will not be repeated in any other round. The jury is empowered to interrupt the contestant’s performance.

4. The Final round will be opened and free entrance to the public and may be spread or recorded through any technical support. Contestants renounce to any right related to this subject.

5. The Final round will take place at a hall in Valencia. The organization will inform by e-mail or telephone to all the contestants (from the deadline of the inscription) about date, time and place where it will take place the public draw to determine the order of the appearance in alphabetical order of the contestants and halls.

6. The organization reserves the right to modify dates, place and any other unexpected event that may happen.

7. Contestants who pass to the Final Round must duly identify themselves, showing the original ID card, passport or Family Book. Contestants who do not respect the order of the appearance will be excluded of the Competition and those who give false documents will be excluded as well.

8. Three copies of all works should be handed to the Organization in advance by the contestants.

9. The Organization does not accept liability for any harm caused or suffered by contestants to the celebration of the Competition.

10. It is understood that contestants automatically accept the rules of the competition as well as the jury’s decision.

ROUNDS

The Eliminatory round will be held online.

The contestant will have to send the link to the video, according to the duration time conditions corresponding to his/her category. The link to the video must be included on the registration form.

The video must be original and unpublished, recorded exclusively for the 10th Edition of the CIGAJ, without cuts, interruptions, or sound manipulation.

The guitarist will introduce himself at the beginning of the video saying:

his/her full name
day of recording
the reason for the recording (CIGAJ 10th Edition)
and the piece or pieces to be performed.

Maximum delivery period: October 14, 2023.

The results of the Eliminatory rounds, as well as the list and order of guitarists who will go to the Final round (in person), will be announced the last week of October (between October 23rd and 27th).

The official presentation of the CIGAJ will take place on Friday, November 10th at 7:00 p. m.

The Final round will be held on November 11th from 10:00 a. m.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 12th at 12:00
(The attendance of the winners is mandatory except for justified cause).

The Competition Organisers will inform the contestants well in advance about the day, place and time of the Final round for each category, so that they can organise the logistics of their participation.

A Category:

Eliminatory/Final: Performances of the free choice works must not exceed 4 minutes in each round.

B Category:

Eliminatory/Final: Performances of the free choice works must not exceed 5 minutes in each round.

C Category:

Eliminatory: Performances of the free choice works must not exceed 7 minutes.
Final: Performances of the free choice works must not exceed 15 minutes.

D Category:

Eliminatory: Performances of the free choice pieces must not exceed 8 minutes.
Final: Performances of the free choice pieces must not exceed 20 minutes.

Manufacturas Alhambra informs that, for the management, development and maintenance of this promotion, no international transfers of participants' data will be made outside the European Economic Area.

V. How long will we keep the personal data?

The data will be kept for the duration of this promotion. Specifically, the data will be kept for the time necessary to fulfil the purpose for which they were collected and to determine any possible liabilities that may arise from this purpose and the processing of the data, in accordance with the regulations set out above, in addition to the periods established in the applicable archives and documentation regulations, and as long as the participant does not request the right of deletion.

IX. Commercial use of data

The user who voluntarily and expressly authorises it may receive commercial communications from Manufacturas Alhambra about its products, novelties, promotions and competitions, once this promotion has ended. This authorisation may be revoked at any time, so the data will be kept as long as the user does not express his/her right of cancellation. The data will not be shared with any third party.
